Forget copyright infringement, YouTube is now complying with removal orders from governments to stop populist rage going viral

In a frightening example of how the state is tightening its grip around the free Internet, it has emerged that You Tube is complying with thousands of requests from governments to censor and remove videos that show protests and other examples of citizens simply asserting their rights, while also deleting search terms by government mandate.

The latest example is You Tube’s compliance with a request from the British government to censor footage of the British Constitution Group’s Lawful Rebellion protest, during which they attempted to civilly arrest Judge Michael Peake at Birkenhead county court.

Peake was ruling on a case involving Roger Hayes, former member of UKIP, who has refused to pay council tax, both as a protest against the government’s treasonous activities in sacrificing Britain to globalist interests and as a result of Hayes clearly proving that council tax is illegal.

Hayes has embarked on an effort to legally prove that the enforced collection of council tax by government is unlawful because no contract has been agreed between the individual and the state. His argument is based on the sound legal principle that just like the council, Hayes can represent himself as a third party in court and that “Roger Hayes” is a corporation and must be treated as one in the eyes of the law.

Democracy Now! talks to investigative reporter Greg Palast about a controversy in the banking community around the Occupy Wall Street movement. Palast investigates the story behind Goldman Sachs’ recent decision to pull out of a fundraiser for the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union in New York City after it learned the event was honoring the protesters at Occupy Wall Street. The investment bank withdrew its name from the fundraiser and also canceled a $5,000 pledge. Was the $5,000 a Goldman Sachs donation or actually American taxpayer bail-out money Goldman set aside for community banks?

Occupy Wallstreet - clearly a successful initiative, if it has Goldman Sachs threatening People’s banks, and retracting money that by law has to be circulated to them.

On Oct. 15, groups of protesters affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement began filing into the branch offices of their banks in order to close their accounts. Later that day, videos began to show up online of those protesters being arrested. Irate branch managers had called the cops, claiming that those who were crowded into the branch to close their accounts were being disruptive, so police began hauling the protesters away for booking. The spectacle of citizens being arrested for attempting to close out their personal bank accounts made a splash in the usual corners of the Internet — mainly blogs and Twitter. But one place where information about the protest was conspicuously absent was Google.

Personally, I am not a strong supporter of the “Occupy _____” movements and protests. I think they are the liberal embodiment of the tea party; in fact I think that in many ways they are undermining liberal agendas which I support. However this may be, I do believe they have the right to assemble, to protest, and to speak freely, regardless of what their message is, and I do not condone the force used by Oakland PD in response. The worst transgression of all however was the denial of media presence at the event. Government control of news and information, whether at the local or national level, is unacceptable, and if it is condoned by the Obama/future federal administrations, we have to respond.

Current Occupy Oakland plans are to “Reconvene today at 4pm at the Oakland Library on 14th & Madison.”

If you’re still in the sf bay area, I would urge you to consider playing watchdog and heading down there after school (equipped to take pictures or video). You could easily on a daily basis do homework somewhere on the sidelines while being ready to come through with the evidence of police using unfair / excessive force.

A New York police commander currently is facing internal disciplinary action because some quick individual caught him using pepper spray unprovoked on nonviolent demonstrators, but many other alleged police crimes are dismissed without any evidence to prove they happened. Maybe you could be the one to catch a cop in the act. In the spirit of Alan Moore: Who polices the police?

Woo! My little city has become so inspiring these days. While the occupy movement has its kinks and at times has become a bit jumbled place to place. I am just so proud that little Cincinnati is standing it’s ground on a subject and really keeping to the ideals that sparked this movement in the first place.

I am the 99% I am 22 years old and have student loans I can’t pay, I have outstanding bills I got left with because of my ex. I work two minimum wage jobs and I will not be able to go back to school until I am 24 years old and the government looks at my income and not my parents. I have 100+ dollars taken out of every pay check for taxes. I pay social security on those taxes. I will never see that money I will never get that back.

For all those involved ♥ Thank you. This is just getting bigger and bigger and bigger!

Unfortunately, it’s common practice for corporations to spread falsehoods about popular movements. Many people will believe those falsehoods and misunderstand the fact that we are working to make this person’s life better, whether he realizes it or not.
